Working with teens & young adults who are actively using drugs can be very challenging. It can cloud a therapist's judgment when assessing, diagnosing and treating the individual and their family. Many questions arise. For Example, what is marijuana abuse vs. a mood disorder? And how do I treat it? If they need inpatient rehab which programs best fit my client?

Learning how to assess teen substance abuse, break down denial, increase motivation for change and educate/support the family is valuable when working with this population.

The focus of consultation is to teach a structured process that has been used for for over 20 years which adapts to most practices and programs.

Consultation can be a one time event or an ongoing process. Every therapist or agency has different needs.
